Congressman Brian Higgins announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is now accepting applications for grants through the fire prevention and safety (FP&S) program.
"These grants continue to support America's national and regional emergency preparedness and enhance community safety," Higgins said. "We encourage local organizations and departments to apply."
This year, $34.5 million has appropriated for the FP&S program, aimed at specifically targeting projects and programs that mitigate incidences of death and injuries caused by fire among high-risk populations including children, seniors and firefighters.
Grant information is available on the Federal Emergency Management Agency website at: www.fema.gov/fire-prevention-safety-grants. Features include key programmatic updates and application requirements, as well as an application checklist and answers to frequently asked questions.
The window to submit grant applications will close at 5 p.m. Friday, March 16. Applicants with questions or in need technical assistance can contact the FP&S grant help desk at 1-866-274-0960 or via email at [email protected].
