Upstate New York Food Tour Trail launches
The Upstate New York Food Tour Trail, an association of locally owned walking food tour companies throughout upstate New York, recently launched and is offering New York state residents and visitors alike new opportunities in culinary tourism.
The Upstate New York Food Tour Trail is a joint venture of food tour operators from across Western and Central New York, the Southern Tier and the Hudson Valley. The goal is to encourage those with adventurous appetites to explore the bountiful food and drink of the Empire State. Guests who attend any trail member's tour will receive a discount of 10 percent off the ticket price on all other trail member tours.
The trail's members include: Flower City Food Tours (Rochester and Pittsford), Foodies Culinary Tours (Ithaca), Oswego Food & History Tours (Oswego), The Roaming Table - Lewiston Culinary Tours (Lewiston), Sampling Syracuse Food Tours (Syracuse) Saratoga Springs Food Tour (Saratoga Springs) and Taste of Troy Food Tours (Troy and Albany).
Culinary tourism is the pursuit of unique and memorable eating and drinking experiences as a leisure activity. Food tour operators curate these experiences for their guests, with a special focus on locally owned restaurants and the notable cuisine of their area.
Food tours are typically two to four hours and feature four to eight prepared tastings - altogether enough to replace a full meal - while allowing time in between culinary stops to showcase the history, culture, and architecture of the neighborhood.
