Helping seniors in Youngstown

Sat, Jan 20th 2018 07:00 am
Town of Porter Supervisor Duffy Johnston recently presented a $15,000 check to Village of Youngstown Mayor Raleigh Reynolds to assist with upkeep of the senior van. The Village of Youngstown and Town of Porter share the van, which takes area seniors to doctor and hospital appointments.
The van recently went down with a transmission problem and has close to 200,000 miles on it. Both boards have requested help from New York State Sen. Rob Ortt in buying a new van.
"The senator is aware of our situation and, if he has room in his budget, we will receive a new van," Johnston said.
