Tickets on sale Friday
The University at Buffalo Center for the Arts presents Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey, of Peter, Paul and Mary, at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4. Tickets go on sale at noon on Friday.
Yarrow and Stookey, along with Mary Travers, founded the legendary folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary. The group performed for nearly 50 years, won five Grammy Awards, and produced 13 Top 40 hits while selling 13 RIAA Gold and Platinum albums. All the while, they continued a centuries-old tradition of people raising their voices in song for the sake of freedom and social justice. The group reclaimed folk's potency as a social, cultural and political force. Their performances of such songs as "Leaving On A Jet Plane," "Puff, The Magic Dragon," "If I Had A Hammer" and "Blowin' In The Wind" are etched into the history of American popular song.
During breaks from Peter, Paul and Mary, and following Travers's death in 2009, Yarrow and Stookey have led significant careers as solo artists. They each enjoy active performance schedules and focus on a wide range of social justice efforts. They also come together for a few concerts each year.
In this special evening, the artists will celebrate through song and reflection the enduring impact of their music and advocacy.
Tickets are available at the UB Center for the Arts box office (noon until 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday) and online at ticketfly.com. To charge tickets, call 877-987-6487. For more information, call 716-645-2787 or visit www.ubcfa.org or www.peteryarrow.net or www.noelpaulstookey.com.
