"Elf Jr. The Musical," produced by Teal's Niagara Theatre, will be staged at The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, 1201 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, inside the Grand Theatre.
Additionally, there will be a special visit by Santa between 1-2 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $8 pre-sale or $10 at the door and may be purchased by calling 716-262-8100 or online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3129738
Event organizers state, "This modern-day holiday classic is sure to make everyone embrace his or her 'inner elf,' with plenty of large song and dance numbers featuring elves, Santa and more! 'Elf Jr. The Musical' will have you and yours saying 'the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!' "
The show is based on the beloved New Line Cinema hit holiday film. It features songs by Tony Award-nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin, with a book by Tony Award-winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin.
The fish-out-of-water comedy follows Buddy the Elf (Lewiston-Porter eighth-grade student Dominic Townsend) in his quest to find his true identity. Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's (David Day of Starpoint Middle School) bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised unaware he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.
With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality his father is on the "Naughty List," and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family - and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
"Elf Jr. The Musical" is directed and produced by Lewiston's Chris and Amy Teal of Teal's Niagara Theatre. It is choreographed by Jill Anderson.
