In the lone race in the Town of Niagara, councilmen Marc Carpenter and Charles Teixeira were re-elected to the Town Board by the citizens on Tuesday. Carpenter, Teixeira and Donald Schildhauer ran for the two seats on the board, with Carpenter netting the most votes at 1,015 (45 percent). Teixeira racked up 764 votes (34 percent), while Schildhauer finished third with 501 votes (22 percent).
The only other position on the ballot went unopposed, as Anthony Restaino ran for Town of Niagara town justice.
Carpenter said he was excited to be back and noted, "I am honored and would like to thank all the voters for granting me another four years to serve the residents of our town."
There were three spots up for election that all went unopposed in the Town of Wheatfield. Don MacSwan will be the new town supervisor, earning 2,829 votes, while Curt Doktor and Randy Retzlaff won two seats on the Town Board with counts of 2,713 and 2,753, respectively. Gary Strenkoski won the Town of Wheatfield town justice race with 3,319 votes, including 25 write-ins.
