Earlier Thursday afternoon, citizens in the Town of Niagara on Grauer Road were asked by police to shelter in place due to a police incident. The first word is the incident ended with an arrest. Also, nobody was hurt in the incident. According to nyalert.gov, the shelter in place was cancelled at 1:31 p.m. and citizens were able to resume normal activities.
According to nyspnews.com, Michael Greaser, 57, of Lewiston was arrested for menacing second-degree and kidnapping second-degree.
Greaser was involved in a domestic with his wife early Thursday morning, where he threatened to kill her and himself with, what nyspnews.com describes as "a long gun." The female was able to flee the residence on Saunders Settlement after several hours and filed a report, according to nyspnews.
Greaser was later located at the home on Grauer Road, and after failed attempts by New York State and Town of Niagara Police and the Niagara County Sherriffs Office to contact Greaser, the shelter in place was issued to the surrounding area.
According to nyspnews, Greaser left the residence with no incident and was taken into custody and Greaser was processed and arraigned at the Town of Lewiston Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
The Tribune is working to find more information on the incident and will provide more when given.
