Friday, Dec. 1
The third annual "Art Off the Wall" exhibition and fundraiser to benefit the Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda Friday, Dec. 1. The event will give visitors a unique opportunity to purchase original 5-inch-by-7-inch artwork generously donated by local artists supporting the Carnegie Art Center. All items are priced at $20.
For a $10 donation fee, visitors can attend the event from 6-9 p.m. It includes a complementary drink and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased the day of the event. Visitors will have the opportunity to an early previewing held from 6-6:45 p.m. Selling begins at 7 p.m.
The event runs as first-come, first-served. Hence, "Art Off the Wall." Patrons walk away with their purchase that evening and also have an opportunity to have it framed onsite as Partners In Art Complex offers reasonable cost framing, with a portion of the framing proceeds donated to the CAC.
Also, new this year is a silent auction. Local award-winning and national artists have donated original framed artwork for a silent auction, including Mariette Murphy Jonker, Malcolm Bonney, Sarah Myers, Bill Gian, Doreen Cutting, Lincoln Cutting, Coni Minneci, Joyce Hill, Len Rusin, Joan Horn, Cindi O'Mara, J. Tim Raymond, Rita Argen Auerbach, Scott Bye, Kathryn Morgan, Jack Edson, Catherine Tillou, Gerald Mead, Pat Pendleton, Krystal Allen, and a piece from Chuck Scaglione's personal collection by artist Philip Lekki.
All artworks will be displayed without the benefit of artist signatures until after purchase. A favorite artwork displayed at the show could be the work of a college student or the work of an established artist. Aspiring art collectors are given a rare opportunity to plunge into the purchase of their first "real" piece of art without breaking the bank. Established art collectors can test their palettes by learning if they have purchased their favorite artist or if they've "discovered" a new talent.
In 2015, "Art Off The Wall" marked the re-opening of the Carnegie Art Center. This annual event benefits the local art community while raising funds for the Carnegie.
The Carnegie Art Center is situated in a structure built in 1904 as the City of North Tonawanda's public library and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1976, the Carnegie has been operating as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation offering the community art exhibitions, art and dance classes, as well as support to artists and art organizations.
