With special guest Linda Davis; concert to benefit Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo
The Center for the Arts, University at Buffalo, welcomes the 11th annual Ronald McDonald House Charity Holiday Concert, this year featuring "Kenny Rogers - The Gambler's Last Deal: Christmas & Hits" with special guest Linda Davis. The event begins at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.
Rogers' annual holiday tradition of performing "Christmas & Hits" shows in the U.S. will return by popular demand as part of the Grammy Award-winner's "The Gambler's Last Deal" final world tour. After more than five decades of touring and entertaining the world, Rogers' final world tour will run into 2018.
For his upcoming "Christmas & Hits" tour dates, Rogers will perform Christmas favorites, selections from his 2015 album "Once Again It's Christmas," and his well-known hits. Davis will be Rogers' special guest.
"I hope you'll be able to join us to share some special holiday memories this year. Performing and recording Christmas music have always made for some incredible memories throughout my career, and I'm excited to continue the tradition," Rogers said.
"The Gambler's Last Deal" concerts feature an all-new show, including a reflective look back through Rogers' storied career of nearly 60 years. Enhanced with personal stories, vintage photos and video clips - including never-before-seen footage - the music-filled retrospective touches on every part of Rogers' career. Along with many hits, Rogers is singing songs in concert that he has not performed in years.
Rogers has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide. He has charted a record within each of the past seven decades. The first country artist to consistently sell out arenas, Rogers achieved pop superstardom, as well. His m28 Billboard adult contemporary Top 10s rank him fourth-best of all time among men, trailing only Elton John, Neil Diamond and Elvis Presley. Rogers has recorded 24 No. 1 hits, 12 No. 1 albums, 25 Top 10 country albums and is the RIAA's eighth best-selling male solo artist of all time. The Country Music Hall of Fame member has received three Grammys, 11 People's Choice Awards, 19 American Music Awards, eight Academy of Country Music Awards and six Country Music Association Awards, among many other accolades.
Locally presented by The Derico of East Amherst Corp., UB concert proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo. Since opening its doors to families of seriously ill or injured children, the Ronald McDonald House of Buffalo has provided comfortable, affordable lodging for 18,000 families from Western New York and around the world.
The Ronald McDonald House is a family's "home-away-from-home" when their child requires specialized medical care at a Buffalo hospital.
Tickets are available at the UB Center for the Arts box office (noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday), and online at ticketfly.com. To charge tickets, call 877-987-6487. For more information, call 716-645-2787 or visit www.ubcfa.org or www.kennyrogers.com.
