On a regular basis, there are news stories regarding government officials not responding to Freedom of Information Law requests, violations of the Open Meetings Law, etc. In an effort to educate concerned citizens on the legal requirements for obtaining information and conducting proper meetings, the Buffalo Niagara Coalition for Open Government and the League of Women Voters of Buffalo/Niagara welcomes Robert J. Freeman, executive director of the New York Committee on Open Government, a division of the New York Department of State, for a special presentation.
"Open Government, Your Right to Know!'" will be offered from 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at the Buffalo History Museum, One Museum Court (on Nottingham Terrace, just east of Elmwood Avenue at Route 198).
Freeman is an expert in open government issues. This forum will include an opportunity for guests to ask questions and get Freeman's responses. The event is free and open to the public, and includes free refreshments.
Those planning on attending need to register online at www.lwvbn.org.
