Presenting donors to have opportunity to tour stadium, meet Bills players, enter to win prizes
The Buffalo Bills and Unyts have teamed up to host a community blood drive on Tuesday, Sept. 19, inside the Paul Maguire Club at New Era Field. The event will give presenting donors an opportunity to enjoy a Tuesday at the stadium as DJ Milk plays the Paul Maguire Club, and donors will have a chance to take a tour of New Era Field, while crews prepare for the Bills to host Denver. Additionally, 100 pairs of tickets to the Sept. 24 game against the Broncos will be given away, and all donors will be invited to enter to win.
Bills linebacker Preston Brown and Wall of Famer Steve Tasker will each make a visit to the blood drive for meet-and-greet opportunities with presenting donors.
"We are encouraging the WNY community to come out and donate at our annual Buffalo Bills blood drive on Sept. 19 and help in saving local lives at local hospitals" said Mark J. Simon, president and CEO of Unyts. "It's important for Unyts to partner with organizations that truly give back to this community. The Bills organization has been doing just that for decades, and we are happy to be part of the team."
The Unyts community blood drive at New Era Field runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Donors are welcome to make an appointment by visiting www.unyts.org/teamunyts. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Any interested donors who can't make it to New Era Field on Tuesday can donate at their nearest Unyts Neighborhood Donation Center between Sept. 15-22 to enter to win tickets to the Bills-Denver game.
Headquartered in downtown Buffalo and established in 1981, Unyts is among the leading procurement organizations in the U.S., and is one of the only eight centers nationwide to house organ, eye and tissue procurement in one location. With the addition of community blood services in 2007, Unyts has become the first organization of its kind nationwide.
Unyts operates as a nonprofit serving the eight counties of Western New York and works to assist donor families, coordinate the donation process and increase knowledge and awareness within the community regarding transplantation.
