Buffalo Zoo holds animal art show

Mon, Sep 11th 2017 03:00 pm
The Buffalo Zoo, 300 Parkside Ave., will hold its biannual animal fundraiser, "Art Gone Wild," from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14. "Art Gone Wild" features an art show, auction and sale of works that were produced by the zoo's animal residents. Pieces include animal paintings, paw print casts and ornaments.
"We create art in a variety of ways with our animals," said Lynn Hougle, one of the Buffalo Zoo's animal keepers. "Some of our animals are taught to paint with their fingers, with paint brushes, or walk through paint onto canvases. All of these techniques are great forms of enrichment for our animals."
Tickets to the event cost $10 in advance, or $15 at the door. Light refreshments will be available while supplies last. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the zoo's website, www.buffalozoo.org. The animal department uses the funds raised from "Art Gone Wild" to purchase items such as scales, toys or other things needed to care for the zoo's animals.
The Buffalo Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Grounds remain open for one hour after admission gates close.
