Painters Plus selects Live Hose Fire Co. for 7th annual Project H.O.P.E.

North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas and Niagara County Legislator Richard Andres announced Jesse Gooch, proprietor of Painters Plus, has chosen the Live Hose Volunteer Fire Co. as the recipient of the seventh annual Project H.O.P.E Award.
Gooch initiated project H.O.P.E., which stands for "Helping Others Paint Exteriors," in 2011. Since that time, six homes in North Tonawanda have been pressure-washed, primed and painted by the Painters Plus crew and their volunteers.
This year, Live Hose Fire Co. was selected.
"We are trying something different and taking on a bigger project," Gooch said. "We thought it may be nice to give back to those that give so much to our community every day."
Andres, who pitched the idea to Gooch, said he thought it would be a great opportunity to improve a neighborhood, while giving back to the first responders our city depends on. The Niagara County Legislature appropriated revenue from the Seneca Community Fund to assist in purchasing the paint, with Painters Plus donating manpower and paint supplies for the project.
"This is a great project that helps not only the dedicated volunteers at Live Hose, but also beautifies our city. I want to thank Jesse Gooch and Painters Plus as well as Legislator Andres for teaming up on this worthwhile project," Pappas said.
The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 16, at Live Hose, 71 Vandervoort St. from 9 a.m. until the project is completed. Lunch will be provided to all volunteers in attendance.
