Artpark & Company recently unveiled a special dedication in honor of the late Christopher H. Brown, its former board chairman.
On July 31, the Brown family, Brown & Company staff, and Artpark board members gathered at the Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater to dedicate the VIP skybox walkway in memory of Brown. A bronze plaque designating the area as the "Christopher Brown Memorial Concourse" was installed on the black metal fence.
Brown was a member of the Artpark & Company board from 2000-16, serving as board chairman from 2008-12.
Over the past 16 summers, the VIP skybox area has become a hub of activity and networking during the weekly summer concert series. Brown was a regular concertgoer, speaking with patrons and sponsors. A great lover of music, Brown and then-Artpark President George Osborne worked with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to upgrade and improve the outdoor amphitheater.
A major renovation was completed in 2012, which reshaped the look of the current amphitheater.
"Chris loved Artpark," Artpark & Company Board Chairwoman Dena Armstrong said at the ceremony." He was instrumental from the start to the finish of the amphitheater project."
