Food Bank of WNY earns maximum 4-star rating from Charity Navigator

The Food Bank of WNY's strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency have once again earned a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's largest independent charity evaluator. This is the third consecutive time the Food Bank of WNY has earned this top distinction.
Charity Navigator helps guide intelligent giving by evaluating the "Financial Health and Accountability & Transparency" of more than 8,000 charities. Since 2002, using objective, data-driven analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating.
"The Food Bank of WNY's exceptional four-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public," said Michael Thatcher, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. "Only a quarter of charities rated by Charity Navigator receive the distinction of our four-star rating. This adds the Food Bank of WNY to a pre-eminent group of charities working to overcome our world's most pressing challenges. Based on its four-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support the Food Bank of WNY."
As the Food Bank of WNY continues its mission of providing nutritious food and support to community members in need, it reports 94 percent of every dollar donated to the organization is allocated for programs and services that assist the hungry in Western New York.

The Food Bank of WNY is the primary hunger-relief organization in Western New York, obtaining and distributing food to 341 member agencies, including food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, youth programs, and senior centers in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, and Niagara counties. Through these agencies, the Food Bank of WNY serves as many as 134,955 individuals in any given month, including more than 44,000 families, 55,000 children and infants, and nearly 16,500 seniors.
