Two cities compete in Metro 10 Race

Wed, Jul 12th 2017 11:20 am
Get ready to represent Buffalo in a showdown against Rochester.
Or vice versa.
The third annual Metro 10 Race will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Bullard Park in Albion.
The race is designed to bring the Buffalo and Rochester communities together to celebrate differences and represent the city closest to one's heart in a spirited competition where every runner's time counts. Regardless of where participants reside, they can choose a team to represent.
Choose the 10-mile route, which has a cut-off time of 2:30 p.m., or a 5-mile run or walk. Each route will go through the historical downtown, an apple orchard, alongside Erie Canal and across three different types of surface areas.
Entry includes a custom T-shirt and a logo-embossed beer tasting glass. The event also boasts five water and fluid stops, offers custom finisher medals, and features live music by Preach Freedom.
The 716 wing eaters will go up against 585 garbage plate eaters, who will try to defend their title.
Proceeds will benefit a new charitable endeavor, The Warrior House of WNY. The 501(c)(3) veterans service organization and farm consists of nearly 1,500 acres dedicated to hunting geese, ducks, turkey, deer and pheasant. The hunts are organized for wounded vets, and children who have lost a parent in a war.
