Fundraiser benefits life-saving operation
Mercy Flight of Western New York's annual LakeFest event took place Saturday at Veterans Memorial Community Park in the Town of Niagara. Proceeds generated from the event will benefit Mercy Flight.
Kate Glaser, director of marketing and public affairs at Mercy Flight, said, "LakeFest Niagara was a phenomenal event with many residents of our community showing She support for Mercy Flight."
Glaser said the highlight of the event was when Mercy Flight crewmembers gave visitors a ride in one of the helicopters.
"This was a huge hit for attendees, because they were able to experience exactly what our flight crew experiences when they take our helicopter above over Western New York," Glaser said. "We offered rides for nearly seven hours, which was not only fun, but also educational for those who took advantage. We look forward to next year's event!"
The fundraiser, held for the first time in the Town of Niagara, featured live musical performances, auctions, raffles, games, food and drink, and a fireworks display.
"We are very grateful to the Town of Niagara for providing us the option to use the park to host this year's LakeFest," Glaser said. "This was our first time at this location, but it provided the perfect backdrop of our helicopter, and all of the activities of the event. Overall, we had hundreds come and celebrate the lifesaving mission of Mercy Flight."
The event's title sponsor was Diverse Technologies. For more information, visit www.mercyflight.org.
