Galbani Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival: Scenes from an Italian restaurant ... or 20

Mon, Jul 17th 2017 01:20 pm
The Galbani Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival celebrated 30 years of authentic food, lively music, and entertaining cultural traditions - but a new location this time around. The family-friendly event moved from Hertel Avenue to the Outer Harbor.
Weekend event highlights included a classic car show; a live performance by Sal Valentinetti, a finalist on "America's Got Talent" (season 11) on Saturday; the "Celebrity Galbani Cheese Building Contest," and a cheese sculpture of the Leaning Tower of Pisa on Sunday.
For the 19th consecutive year, Galbani cheese, previously known as Sorrento Cheese, served as the title sponsor. During the four-day festival, guests visited the La Cucina Galbani cooking stage for recipe ideas and demonstrations from Chef Marco, as well as complementary samples of recipes created with Galbani products.
Grand Island's Pizza Amoré - "The Wood Fire Way" won "Best Pizza" award. The restaurant also claimed this honor in 2013.
Also new this year was a $5 admission fee, but the tradeoff was a larger venue space with more onsite parking.
