Lewiston Police Department issues update on Pletcher Road arrest

Lewiston Police Department Chief Frank Previte issued the following statement on Monday:
"This is a follow-up to the attempt to locate issued by the Lewiston Police for Jon Ellington (D.O.B. 02-12-1973). He was taken into custody yesterday outside his residence on Pletcher Road in the Town of Lewiston after a search of the area by the Lewiston Police, Niagara County Sheriff's Department, U.S. Border Patrol Agents and State Police. He was being sought in regard to a 911 domestic call received on Saturday, June 24, at his residence on Pletcher Road.
"The investigation into the incident resulted in charges being filed against Mr. Ellington for rape in the first degree, kidnapping in the second degree, strangulation in the second degree, assault in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree. The suspect was arrested by the Lewiston Police Department and taken to the Town of Lewiston Court where he was arraigned and held without bail. He was then transported to the Niagara County Jail.
"The incident was brought to a resolution due to the collaborative efforts of the Lewiston Police Department, the Niagara County District Attorney's Office, the New York State Police, the Niagara County Sheriff's Department and the United States Border Patrol."
