Show set for July 21
The annual return of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra to Artpark is one of Western New York's summer traditions. Artpark & Company and the BPO have announced a special show, "Broadway Today!", will be staged in the Mainstage Theater at 8 p.m. Friday, July 21.
Tickets are on sale at tickets.com, artpark.net, by phone at 1-888-223-6000, and at the Artpark box office, 450 S. Fourth St., Lewiston.
Conducted by Stefan Sanders, the BPO's "Broadway Today!" featuring vocalists Scott Coulter (winner of five MAC Awards), Carole Bufford (a New York Times darling, and award winner), and Jenna Dallacco (New York Theater "Musicals Tonight," Fringe Festival), with John Boswell (music director for Judy Collins, Andy Williams and concert tours of "That's Life: A Toast to Sinatra") on piano and vocals.
With these musical stars, this exclusive BPO stage show will present the top music selections from a diverse list of current and classic Broadway shows, including "Wicked," "Beautiful," "Aladdin," "Jersey Boys," "Lion King," "Company," "Hair," "Mama Mia," "The Sound of Music," "Mary Poppins," "Phantom of the Opera" and "Miss Saigon."
The BPO's connection with Artpark dates to the early days of the venue, when the orchestra performed at Artpark's opening night concert in 1974. Four years ago, the BPO reprised that concert for the 40th anniversary of Artpark. Over the years, the orchestra has enjoyed a summer residency, and performed programs at Artpark ranging from a Grateful Dead tribute event to an ambitious, four-year presentation of Wagner's Ring Cycle.
