On June 15, the fifth anniversary of Nik Wallenda's tightrope walk across Niagara Falls, his wife, Erendira, broke his iron jaw hang Guinness World Record by dangling 300 feet above the Horseshoe Falls - at times by her teeth.
After dangling for approximately 15 seconds, Erendira said she "felt good" and decided to do it again for another 10 seconds.
"It felt amazing," she said after landing back on solid ground.
Erendira said the area above the falls was "a lot more windy than I expected it to be, but then I kind of had to put my mind back to my backyard where I train all the time, and I told myself, 'No, this is what I've done my entire life.' "
She added, "I respect this man (Nik) so much more because that was way more windy than I thought it was going to be."
Nik said it was "absolutely amazing" to be up in the helicopter watching his wife dangle above the falls. He said their Christian faith enables them to take flight without fear of failure - or death.
Both Nik and Erendira were presented with proclamations from Niagara County. Legislators thanked the couple for bringing such unique talent and world-renowned acts to Niagara Falls.
Nik said he hopes to one day have a concrete presence in the Niagara Region.
"The dream would be to have a permanent theater here, basically, where we could perform throughout the summer for all the tourists," he said.
Erendira took flight from the roof of the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino parking ramp to Terrapin Point in Goat Island at Niagara Falls State Park. She began her act about 8:40 a.m. Erendira was filmed by media outlets from around the globe.
