Plans are well underway for the Lewiston Art Festival, Aug. 12-13.
The Lewiston Council on the Arts, which sponsors the festival, will continue its efforts to recycle at the event in partnership with Modern Recycling. To emphasize the theme of recycling and reuse, the Lewiston Public Library will offer a free hands-on art activity that will focus on creating art from discarded materials from noon to 4 p.m. each day.
As part of its community outreach efforts, Modern Corporation also sponsors the Modern Art Awards for artists who enter work in one of eight categories to be judged by external reviewers.
"We are proud to partner with Modern to lessen the environmental impact created by the influx of visitors to our community, and grateful for their support of the festival," LCA Executive Director Irene Rykaszewski said.
