Rain can't stop Lewiston Smelt Festival

As the rain flowed Friday in the Village of Lewiston, crowds of people flooded into the tented area of the Smelt Festival. A light shower couldn't deter visitors from coming up to the waterfront and supporting the Niagara River Anglers Association. Under cover, they were quickly able to catch free (paper) boatloads of the tiny, fried fish, and listen to the sounds of 90 West.

The annual Lewiston Smelt Festival is the official kickoff to the spring and summer outdoor event season in the River Region. It is organized and promoted by the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce.
