Fan Expo Canada's programming boldly goes where no fan has gone before

Fan Expo Canada, the country's largest entertainment convention, has announced its programming for this year's edition. Fans of all ages will have the chance to immerse themselves in the worlds of comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming. The pop culture extravaganza will take place throughout the 750,000-square-feet of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-4.

"We pulled out all the stops to give fans the experience of a lifetime at the show this year," said Andrew Moyes, show director, Fan Expo HQ. "Fans can look forward to the attractions they've loved over the years and will have the opportunity to engage in new programming that compliments the impressive celebrity lineup we have put together."

Here's a snapshot of the new programming Fan Expo Canada fans have to look forward to:

•Star Trek 50th Anniversary Celebrations

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of "Star Trek" with appearances by William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols and George Takei from the original series; celebration panels that include a screening of "Star Trek Continues" with the cast, and a course in the Klingon language. Plus, Sunday is "Star Trek Cosplay Day" with thousands of fellow Trekkers/Trekkies. Be sure to pull on your Starfleet tunic and grab your phaser before you head down to the show.

•Face Front, True Believers! Stan Lee Is Coming To Canada For The Last Time

Stan Lee, the creator of the X-Men, Spider-Man and Iron Man, returns to Toronto by popular demand! At 93, the legendary creator has enjoyed an extraordinary career that spans over seven decades. He has chosen Fan Expo Canada as one of his limited appearances in 2016.

•Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes Strike Back At Fan Expo Canada

Join the special event on Friday, Sept. 2, as the legendary duo takes the stage together in "Jay & Silent Bob Get Old." And don't miss out on Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes posing for photo ops for the first time in an exclusive Fan Expo Canada experience! 

•Frank Miller, The Dark Knight III Team Descend Upon Toronto

Frank Miller, in a very rare appearance, and the team behind "Dark Knight III," are appearing at Fan Expo Canada. Whether you see them at the general fan panel, autograph session or at an exclusive special event, this unique opportunity to meet Miller, Andy Kubert, Brian Azzarello, and Klaus Janson is not to be missed.

•Margaret Atwood Presents World Premiere Of Angel Catbird

International best-selling author Margaret Atwood will be attending Fan Expo Canada on Saturday, Sept. 3, to unveil her much-anticipated graphic novel, "Angel Catbird." Illustrator Johnnie Christmas will join her on stage as they discuss the project and answer questions. After the onstage presentation, Atwood and Christmas will sign books and fans will have their chance to purchase "Angel Catbird" before anyone else in world - only at Fan Expo Canada.

•Meet Daredevil Stars Charlie Cox, Elden Henson, Jon Bernthal

For one of the first times ever, meet the cast of the smash hit Netflix series "Daredevil." Stars Charlie Cox (appearing Sunday only), Elden Henson and Jon Bernthal will be on hand to meet their fans, sign autographs and pose for photo ops.

•Batman 50th Anniversary Farewell Tour With Adam West, Burt Ward

The classic and iconic Batman television series of the 1960s entertained millions and still lives fondly in the hearts of fans. Meet the original dynamic dual for their 50th anniversary farewell tour!

•Voice Actor Live Script Reading: Ghostbusters

Top voice actors including Rob Paulsen, Bill Farmer, Maurice LaMarche and David Hayter perform a live script reading of the Hollywood blockbuster "Ghostbusters." This hilarious re-telling of a classic will bring the house down as the actors use their huge list of cartoon characters to breathe new life into some legendary characters.

•Q&A With Worldwide Cosplayer Sensation Alodia Gosiengfiao

Be sure not to miss this rare opportunity to hear from the No. 1 cosplayer in the world, Alodia Gosiengfiao. Visiting from the Philippines, Alodia will share her experiences about cosplay around the globe and what it is like to keep up with her millions of followers on social media.

•Geekfest Film Festival

The world's first traveling film fest, exhibiting the best in geek content in the genres of science fiction, fantasy, horror and gaming. Fans will have the opportunity to see these exciting new films in the Geekfest screening room, which will run all four days of Fan Expo Canada.

•Fan Expo Cosplay Kick-Off Party

Join in at 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, for the Official Fan Expo Cosplay Kick-Off Party at EFS Nightclub, with hot tracks by Dlux, bottle service and a dance floor. Cosplay guests Meg Turney, Kristen Hughey, LeeAnna Vamp and Karli Woods host this official kick-off party.

•Official Fan Expo Afterparty

Join in at 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, for the Official Fan Expo Afterparty at the upscale Brassaii Lounge, with the hottest music in the city by DJ Daf, drink specials and a dance floor. Hosted by "InnerSpace's" Teddy, Morgan and Ajay.


Friday, Sept. 2, at 8 p.m., is the Official Fan Expo Canada EDM X EDP Party at The Opera House. Hosted by DJ RYU☆ + DJ KORSK & KRADNESS, and featuring the hottest EDM straight from Japan.

•Live Pokémon DS Party

Hosted by Pokémon superstar Veronica Taylor! Bring your Nintendo DS and your Pokémon black, white and other Pokémon games and play live with 20 other players - including Ash Ketchum himself!

Here's a snapshot of the additional programming Fan Expo Canada fans have to look forward to:

•Star Gazing

Fans can get up close and personal with their favorite celebrities! Whether getting something autographed, their photo snapped or asking a question at one of the special panel/Q&As, fans can have a chance to interact with their celebrity idols.

•Cosplay Masquerade

If you've never been to a masquerade or cosplay, this is the one to attend! This event features creative fans showcasing their original costumes derived from the comic, sci-fi, horror, anime and fantasy worlds - all on stage for a chance to win bragging rights. From caped-crusaders to hot anime characters, be awed as a spectator or strut your stuff on stage.

•Star Wars Events By The 501st Legion

The 501st Legion is one of the greatest fan organizations in the world and, fortunately, Fan Expo Canada is one of their biggest events of the year. "Star Wars" fans will have a busy weekend with Jedi school, panels, workshops and even a daily "Star Wars"-themed kids hour. The Stormtroopers provide a spectacle for the eye every year with an elaborate booth, and all kinds of photo opportunities throughout the weekend.

•Artist Alley

Indie meets pro in this special area where fans will find all of their favorite pencillers, inkers and writers. A "must experience area" for anyone interested in meeting rising stars who work the front lines of the industry - from comics, graphic novels, limited edition prints and, best of all, original art and sketches.

•Exhibitor Area

Fans can experience the hottest new products and services before anyone else sees them. Companies from all corners of the industry will showcase their upcoming projects and promos in the exhibitor area, and fans get to be there for a sneak peek.

•Over 400,000 Sq. Ft. Of Shopping Madness!

More than 900 retailers from all over join Fan Expo Canada to make the experience unforgettable! Specializing in everything comics, anime, gaming, science fiction and/or horror, these retailers have what every fan needs. Whether it's comic books from any era, original artwork, graphic novels, memorabilia, games, toys or T-shirts - fans can find it all here.

•Sketch Duels

Check out comic artists as they go "pen to pen"! The original art they produce is up for grabs once they're all done. An amazing experience to witness, these friendly competitions show who has got the edge in comic book illustration.

•Fan Expo Speed Dating

Back by popular demand, speed dating is returning to Fan Expo Canada. Fans can experience the thrill of meeting their potential soul mate, future spouse or maybe someone a little more casual.

•Kids Zone, Family Lounge

For parent(s) with kids under 12, the Kids Zone and Family Lounge is a quiet corner where they can relax and get away from the crowds for a bit, with lots of activities for the kids. Famous costumed visitors will be through the lounge regularly all weekend.
