'The Voice': Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys join coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton for season 11

For the first time, a pair of female coaches will command the red chairs for NBC's two-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series

International recording superstars Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will join Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as coaches for season 11 of NBC's two-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice."

The 11th season will begin in September.

Both Cyrus and Keys are passionate fans of "The Voice": Cyrus is a key adviser on the current season and Keys served as a mentor for season seven.

"The musical expertise and energy these two incredibly talented women will bring to the show is remarkable," said Paul Telegdy, president, alternative and late night programming, NBC Entertainment. "We're thrilled that they'll be joining Adam and Blake in what we know will be a magical 11th season."

The current cycle of "The Voice" has averaged a 4.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 15.4 million viewers overall in "live plus seven day" results from Nielsen Media Research. In its debut week, the Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" ranked No. 1 and No. 2 among the week's primetime telecasts on the broadcast networks in adults 18-49 ("live plus same day"), in week two they finished No. 2 and No. 3 and, in week three, they ranked No. 1 and No. 3. For the 2015-16 season to date, the Monday edition of "The Voice" is television's No. 1 alternative series in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
