The Western New York Regional Economic Development Council announced Dec. 10 the Riviera Theatre's "Set the Stage" Expansion and Development Project has been awarded $1.2 million.

This funding is in addition to a recent award of $50,000 through the Niagara River Greenway Niagara Host Communities Standing Committee.

"This funding is a game changer towards the advancement of the Riviera Theatre Expansion and Development Project and gives our project the credibility it deserves and will help us to leverage additional funds that we are currently working on through other funding sources," Riviera Theatre Co-director Gary J. Rouleau said.

"As we continue to set the stage for our theater expansion project, we look forward to maintaining the history of the existing theater and her Mighty Wurlitzer theater organ while providing the amenities required by a modern audience and to bring our facility up to the standards of today's performers," Riviera Theatre Co-director Jim Pritchard said.
