Here is what you need to know for day No. 4 at the Erie County Fair.

Live in the GUSTO Grandstand

Night Ranger. Coming out of San Francisco in the 1980s, Night Ranger has been part of the music scene for more than three decades. In those years, the group has sold more than 17 million albums worldwide, including 1983's "Midnight Madness," which features "Sister Christian," "When You Close Your Eyes" and "(You Can Still) Rock in America."

This is a free concert with gate admission. It begins at 8:30pm.

Deals and Discounts

Student Special. Students ages 13-22 receive $5 admission after 5 p.m. with proper ID.

One-Price-Ride Day. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for $40 on the Strates midway.

Special Events

Johnsonville Big Taste Grill. Guests can eat a Johnsonville Brat at the Big Taste Grill for $3. Two dollars from every brat sold benefits the Food Bank of WNY. Look for the Big Taste Grill across from the Showplex. It will be visiting The Fairgrounds until Sunday, Aug. 16.

Talent Show (mini-contest, 12 and under). Community members will have the opportunity to showcase their talents at the EC Fair. Participants have just three minutes for their routine. The winner of the show will continue on to Syracuse to compete in the New York State Fair. The show takes place on the Tops Avenue of Flags Stage beginning at 11:30 a.m.

4-H and FFA Swine, Poultry and Rabbit Auction. Support the local Erie County 4-H and FFA youth by purchasing a market animal in the annual auction. These project animals are not only locally grown, but some of the highest quality of meats around.

Due to the threat of avian influenza the poultry auction will be conducted via PowerPoint presentation.

The auction will take place at noon in the Showplex.

Proceeds from the auction will go toward the kids' 2016 project animals.

Canines on the Catwalk. The SPCA will host a fashion show-like event showcasing some of Erie County's most eligible pooches. Guests will have the opportunity to donate to the SPCA or even bring home a new family member.

The event takes place on the Tops Avenue of Flags Stage at 6:15 p.m.

Plein Air Painting Contest. Pre-registered artists will have just one day and two canvases to paint an EC Fair subject of their choosing live on the grounds. Look for the painters throughout the day as they work with limited time and materials to bring forth their best work for judging.

Awards for this competition will be distributed at 5 p.m. in the Creative Arts Exhibit Area.

Opening Day Food Drive Results

Opening day of the fair (Wednesday, Aug. 12), offered guests the opportunity to bring a canned food donation in exchange for free admission. As in years past, fairgoers gave back in a huge way. The final numbers from the Food Bank of WNY have fairgoers donating 36,995 pounds of food, thus breaking the record of food donated from opening day in 2013.

This food will be enough to feed 30,829 meals to people here in the community.

The Food Bank of WNY says the summer is the hardest time to keep pantries full. Staffers have come to rely on the goodness of fairgoers to get them through these months.
