Lewiston-Porter High School has announced the graduation of its third cohort of students from the Academy of International Business & Finance.

Nicole Alonzo, business teacher at Lew-Port High School and director of the academy, said the program is best described as a school-within-a-school approach to education with a focus on a single academic discipline. The academy is designed for students who seek to broaden their knowledge in the growing and vital area of international business, and it is meant to be a challenging and rewarding program for those who are interested in a unique educational experience.

Students who successfully complete the program are awarded 12 college credits from its higher-education partner, Niagara University; they have completed a 150-hour compensated internship; and participated in an international experience that often includes travel to a foreign country.

The graduates this year are: Lyndsey Bailey, Austin Barr, Madison Bertolino, Chelsea Gunderson, Alicia Hughes, Ayush Jajoo, Ashley McCluskey, Brittany Mezhir, Alan Peunic, Casey Radomski, Christopher Rhue, Jacob Rizzo, Hailey Russell and Michael Skowronski.

"It's a privilege to be able to work with such bright, talented and goal-oriented students as these over the course of three years," Alonzo said. "With the knowledge and skills they have gained through participation in the academy, they are already well on their way to an incredibly successful college and career experience."
