Public invited to hear details regarding removal project Feb. 19

USA Niagara Development Corp., the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the New York State Department of Transportation and the City of Niagara Falls have announced a public information session to share details regarding the next steps in the Robert Moses Parkway North removal project. The session will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls, 101 Old Falls St.

In addition to displays of the proposal to remove the parkway from Main Street to Findlay Drive, there will be formal presentations at 4 and 6 p.m. Attendees can discuss the details, ask questions and provide input to project designers and agency representatives before and after the presentation.

Currently, a design report/environmental assessment process has been initiated to publicly evaluate the proposed project in accordance with Federal Highway Administration regulations for implementing the National Environmental Policy Act, Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission regulations and other associated federal requirements. This process also is intended to meet state agency review requirements under the State Environmental Quality Review Act.
