When we hear the word "firehall," we may instantly think of fire engines, firefighters in full gear and a facility that houses all the necessary equipment. We may not automatically think of a quaint and elegant atmosphere, ideal for celebrations, and generally speaking, we would be right on the mark.
But not so with the Lewiston Fire Co. No. 1. Completely renovated and remodeled within the last two years, the Lewiston firehall, 145 North Sixth St., in the Village of Lewiston, boasts a warm and welcoming banquet center that comfortably seats 300, along with a full service kitchen and bar. Ideal for receptions, showers, private parties and group functions, the Lewiston hall is the perfect place to host your special event. Company Vice President, Matt Grainge encourages you to arrange a visit to see for yourself just what the banquet hall has to offer.
Planning an upcoming wedding? What better way to inquire than by visiting from noon until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, when the Lewiston No. 1 will host its first ever bridal show. JCI Catering is sponsoring the event and Scipione Catering, a family-owned and highly respected catering service for over 40 years, will also be actively participating. The Bridal Show is a free-admission event.
Both catering companies work directly out of the firehall. JCI Catering, also a family run and locally owned and operated, has been in the food industry for more than 100 years, dating back two generations. On what sets them apart from the others, James Caccamise, sales manager and part owner replied, "There are two things. Number 1 is the service. Dawn Caccamise, my daughter-in-law, will spend whatever amount of time it takes to ensure our customers have had a delightful experience. We will also help brides-to-be by pointing them toward local DJs and limousine services and will assist them to the best of our ability. From a food perspective, we have a tendency to listen to what our customers want and then we provide a customized menu selection."
Commenting on the services of both JCI Catering and Scipione Catering, Grainge stated, "Both preferred caterers are just on their game, bringing in business. We have the hall rented every weekend."
Brides-to-be are encouraged to preregister for the upcoming Bridal Show at www.jcicatering.net and become eligible for prizes and free makeovers.
Embracing an intimate boutique-style, this event will feature several local vendors on site ready to interact with brides-to-be. Something Blue By LeeAndi's will be present, along with Dance Like a Star with Serge, who will be demonstrating dances for those who may be a little intimidated about showing off their moves on the big day.
Savoy Salon & Spa will be offering two up-dos and Merle Norman Cosmetics will be giving two makeovers. Castwave Studios will be on hand to answer any photography questions and Enchanted Florist, Dianne's Floral and Harris & Lever Florist & Gifts will be present to offer their expertise in floral arrangements and design.
JCI Catering will have an assortment of beverages and a sampling of hors d'oeuvres and Kara Weber, pastry chef at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute will be offering an assortment of pastries.
For those interested in reserving the banquet hall for their special day, the price is just $75 for the evening when choosing one of the two preferred caterers.
Of the newly renovated hall, Grainge said, "It's affordable and with both preferred caterers, we're doing great things. By renting here, you're helping us, help you."
Another upcoming event is the first ever wine tasting and food pairing fundraiser from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7. Hosted by JCI Catering and Lewiston No. 1, all proceeds will go to support the hall and Lewiston No. 1's operational fund for its volunteer firefighters.
Participating Niagara Trail wineries include Arrowhead Spring Vineyards, Chateau Niagara, Vizcarra Vineyards, Black Willow Winery and Schulze Vineyards and Winery.
James and Christian Caccamise, chef manager and part owner at JCI, who will be personally meeting with each vintner to ensure their menu selection for the evening, agrees harmoniously with the wines being showcased. Kara Weber from the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute will be offering truffles and other tasty treats.
Also featured will be a 50/50 draw and a Niagara Wine Trail basket auction, courtesy of Becker and Sanger Farms, with several varieties of wine, wine glasses and accessories to give away.
Offering an elegant, yet relaxed atmosphere, it promises an enjoyable time for visitors.
Cost for a single ticket is $25 and couples are $45. Tickets can be purchased at the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, the Lewiston village office, Orange Cat Coffee Co. and Lewiston No. 1. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
Grainge encourages the community to attend both events. Both provide the community with an opportunity to give back to Lewiston volunteers who respond to nearly 1,000 each year. "We are very professionally staffed by volunteers and all the money that comes in toward the hall is going back to the hall. Whether it be operational or ambulance, etc., you are supporting your fire company."
