Oktoberfest brings a touch of 'Old Bavaria' to Niagara County Oct. 18

Celebrate Oktoberfest with the Niagara History Center Saturday, Oct. 18.This year, organizers are headed to Wrights Corners Fire Co., 4043 Lake Ave., Lockport. From 6-10 p.m., guests can enjoy the very best in Bavarian food and music.

Donna Eick will present a buffet of German food, including traditional Oktoberfest favorites. The dinner will include sauerbraten, bratwurst, roast pork, sauerkraut, sweet and sour cabbage, German potato salad, chef salad and dessert. Guests can purchase drinks from the cash bar.

Dance to the music of The Frankfurters, an authentic Bavarian-Swiss band, whose music and instruments are always a delight. The Frankfurters pull out all the stops, presenting colorful and exciting German entertainment while performing on hand-carved wooden Swiss alphorns, singing-saw and Alpine bells.

The event includes a basket raffle and Amish quilt raffle. The quilt is blue and white, with handmade woven ribbons.

The evening's celebration benefits education programs of the Niagara History Center.
