Free event provides opportunity to learn about contracting with the government

Congressman Brian Higgins and the Niagara Procurement Technical Assistance Center, in conjunction with Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster, are presenting a free informational session for Niagara Falls businesses interested in learning more about contracting with the government.

"The government can do business anywhere, and we want them doing business right here in Niagara Falls and Western New York," Higgins said. "Local businesses are invited to come by and learn more."

The event will be held in the Council Chambers at Niagara Falls City Hall, 745 Main St., Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m.

"We all know the government buys a lot of goods and services, and we all know local businesses have a lot of great products and services to offer," Dyster said. "However, the world of government procurement is very specialized, and the rules are often complex. That's why it's great to have a valuable resource like the Niagara Procurement Technical Assistance Center to help our local businesses pursue government contracts. I applaud Congressman Higgins for taking the lead to make sure local entrepreneurs have a fair shot at benefiting from our government's extensive purchasing program."

"Procurement technical assistance centers serve as a resource for businesses interested in pursuing government contracts. The Niagara PTAC can help local businesses understand the requirements and identify opportunities to sell products and services to the government," said Michael O'Connor, program manager at the Niagara PTAC.

PTACs are funded through cost-sharing cooperative agreements. The Niagara PTAC is supported in part through the U.S. Department of Defense and World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara.
