Assemblyman John Ceretto is working with the Lewiston No. 2 Volunteer Fire Co. to promote a "Veterans Information Day." The event will take place at the Lewiston No. 2 Fire Co. firehall, 1705 Saunders Settlement Road, on Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m.

"We owe a debt of eternal gratitude to our veterans," Ceretto said. "There are a lot of benefits available to veterans that are under-utilized because veterans simply don't know about them. This event will link veterans with active service members who know all the benefits available and can help them find benefits they didn't know existed. We owe it to our veterans to make sure they are taken care of and as a thank you for their sacrifice to our country. It is the least we can do on Veterans Day weekend."

A representative from every branch of the armed forces will be in attendance. Veterans will be matched with a representative based on the branch of the military in which they served. The representatives will enter each participating veteran's information into a database that states what benefits he or she qualifies for. In many cases, veterans discover benefits they did not know existed.

"Our firehouse shares a common bond with military veterans who have sacrificed so much on behalf of our country. We want to make sure that those veterans are well taken care of, and know how much we appreciate their service. I thank Assemblyman Ceretto for promoting this event and sharing my concern for our nation's veterans," said Rodney Michalak president of Lewiston No. 2.
