The Lewiston Community Lions Club's fifth annual peace poster contest was recently held at the Stella Niagara Education Park. The event, chaired by Lion Marlene Craft and Lion's President Ron Craft, boated 58 entries from Stella Niagara, St. Peter's Roman Catholic and St. Peter's Lutheran schools. This year's theme for the contest was "Our World, Our Future."

Poster winners include: first-place winner Julian Gambino and Emily McNamara representing Stella Niagara; first-place winner Lynette Burg and second-place winner Jack Lavkin of St. Peter's; and St. Peter's Lutheran winners Natalie Cleveland, first place, and Megan DeVantier, taking second prize.

First-place winners will advance to local judging at the Lions District 20 mid-year convention, to be held at the Ross Eye Institute. They will be competing with Western New York's other poster winners and more than 400,000 entries worldwide for the top prize of $5,000 and a trip to the UN with two family members. Twenty-three merit prizes of $500 will also be awarded.

At Stella, Lion Mike Marra, pictured left, served as emcee, and Lion Dennis Brochey addressed contestants and parents. The Village Bake Shoppe, Favorite's Pizza and DiMino Tops Lewiston donated refreshments.
