More Lewiston Library October activities

Still more activities on schedule this month at the Lewiston Public Library, 305 S. Eighth St.:

Clubs and More

•Advanced genealogy classes with Peggy Taylor-Hulligan take place on Tuesdays, Oct. 15, 22 and 29, at 6 p.m. Registration required; call the library at 716-754-4720 for details.

•The Lewiston Writers' Group will meet on Monday, Oct. 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. For further information, visit http://www.lewistonwritersgroup.com.

•The Dead Beats Society will meet Monday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. The Italian Research Group will meet Monday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m.

•The Friends of the Lewiston Library are hosting a "Friendly Gathering" on Wednesday Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library. Hearty appetizers, wine tasting, champagne and desserts will be available. Join to see the Friends' gifts to the library, made possible by community support, and share food, conversation and music.

All are welcome; you don't need to be a member of the Friends. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and available at the library. RSVP by Oct. 16. Call JoAnne Lotterio at 716-754-1153 or stop in to purchase tickets.

•The Knitting Club meets every Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. No registration is required and knitters of all skill levels are welcome. For more information, contact Ellen Comerford at 716-754-4144.

Children's Events

•Paul Merklein presents a class, "How to Draw Super Heroes," for ages 10 and up, on Monday, Oct. 28, at 4 p.m. Also on Oct. 28, Merklein will offer a program, "Great Big Spooky Faces," open to area families at 6 p.m.

•Alphabet Soup, a story time that introduces children to a different letter of the alphabet each week, meets Mondays, Oct. 21 and 28, at 10:30 a.m. Children will be introduced to the letter with music, stories, crafts and simple American Sign Language. Children will participate in a costume parade with snacks provided to celebrate Halloween on Oct. 28.

•Toddler Time, a story time for children ages 2 to 3 years old, meets on Tuesdays, Oct. 15, 22 and 29, at 10:30 a.m. Children will participate in a costume parade with snack provided to celebrate Halloween on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

The library will be closed Monday (Columbus Day).
