Town of Niagara Supervisor Steve Richards is due to be arraigned Friday in Niagara County Courthouse in Lockport before Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.
Richards' attorney Rodney Personius confirmed the arraignment Thursday, but said neither he nor his client could make any further comment.
A number of town employees were called to testify before a grand jury last month. Grand jury proceedings are not to be made public, however, some of Richards' political opponents have been commenting on the matter, including appearances on TV news.
The State District Attorney's Office has not issued any statement.
Last spring, when reports were made of FBI and district attorney interviews at Town Hall, Richards said an arraignment would mean he would be able to clear his name.
