The Lewiston Council on the Arts presents "A Tribute to the Edmund Fitzgerald," the fifth program in its popular Discovery Series. Artist and Edmund Fitzgerald enthusiast Thomas Paul Asklar will host this multisensory and multimedia interactive tribute experience that will focus on the tragic story of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, also known as the "Mighty Fitz," which was an American Great Lakes freighter that sank in a Lake Superior storm on Nov. 10, 1975. Lost was the entire crew of 29.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at The Brickyard Pub & B.B.Q., 432 Center St., Lewiston. The evening will feature Gordon Lightfoot's famous musical tribute, the "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." Singers, musicians, actors and poets are invited to share their sea-farin' talents at the open mic, and artists can exhibit and sell their maritime creations. A tolling of the bell will honor the crewmembers. Prizes and giveaways will add to the night.

For more information, call the Lewiston Council on the Arts at 716-754-0166. This event is free for LCA members, and $5 for non-members. It is sponsored by The Brickyard, Supermarket Liquors and Wines, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Sacarissa Bell Rose Lodge No. 307.
