It is inevitable: We will be getting a taste of cold weather soon. As winter approaches, many of us will just go to our closets and pull out a warm coat to wear. But for thousands of families in Western New York, that is simply not an option.

Western New York Realtors want to make sure everyone stays warm this winter. They will be collecting new or gently used winter coats and jackets during the month of October.

Working in partnership with the Salvation Army, Realtors hope to help make the cold winter months a little more comfortable for thousands of disadvantaged men, women and children in Western New York. On any given night, many individuals housed in shelters could be children, young and having outgrown their coat.

Donated items can be dropped off at the Buffalo Niagara Association of Realtors headquarters at 200 John James Audubon Parkway in Amherst or at its Genesee Valley Office, 61 Main St., Geneseo. Realtors are asked to bring their donated items to their Agents' Day, which is Friday, Oct. 18, at the Hyatt in Buffalo.
