On Sept. 20, at 11:42 p.m., Niagara County Sheriff's deputies responded to an armed robbery call at Matty's, 3819 Forest Parkway, in the Town of Wheatfield.

Investigation reveals that a black male approximately 6 feet tall with a large build, wearing a gray hoodie, a baseball cap, dark blue pants and black sneakers, entered the store and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect threatened the use of a handgun, although one wasn't displayed. The suspect ordered the clerk and another employee to lay on the floor behind the counter while he proceeded to take an undetermined amount of money from the register and several packs of cigarettes. The suspect then left the store fleeing in a northerly direction towards a rear parking lot.

Further investigation revealed a second person of interest to be a light-complexioned black male, approximately 6 feet, 5 inches tall, heavyset, bald, with mustache, wearing a blue colored shirt, jean shorts, and white sneakers. The suspect's vehicle is believed to be a black SUV, possibly a Chevrolet, bearing a new style, yellow New York state license plate. An investigation is continuing by the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Bureau. Those who have information should contact the Niagara County Sheriff's Office at 716-438-3393 (24 hours), or during normal business hours. Investigator Tracy Steen can be reached at 716-438-3337.
