On Saturday, Oct. 5, and Sunday, Oct. 6, the new Autumn Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sanborn-Lewiston Farm Museum, 2660 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn.

It's a new format and location for the former Sanborn Winetique event.

"All of our vendors wanted a two-day event; a one-day event is very limited should we have bad weather," said Bonnie Haskell, president of Sanborn Business and Professional Association and assistant curator at the farm museum. The move from the firehall to the museum allows the move to two days, plus provides more space to expand activities offered, she said.

New features in the now two-day Autumn Fest will include the Wrangler Fish Pond, as well as a paint-a-pumpkin and craft area for children.

Music on Saturday will be provided by the River Dogs and on Sunday by Colt 45. Both performances will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

A basket auction and raffle will be offered both days, with the winning numbers drawn at 4 p.m. Sunday.

Hartland Carriages will provide free hayrides around the farm museum from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The date has to be set yet, but the Sanborn Volunteer Fire Co. will be attending, weather permitting, to do a fire safety demonstration for Fire Prevention Week.

Several events have been scheduled for both days:

•Wine tastings will be offered by Niagara Landing Wine Cellars and Shultze Vineyards and Winery.

•A flea and craft market will be open from 10 to 5 p.m.

•Inside the farm museum's new building, a vendor show will offer country crafts, antiques, new and old jewelry, spices and lotions.

•The Sanborn Historical Society will be cooking in its new kitchen, making chili, roast beef, pie and peach cobbler. Other food vendors will be set up outside on the farm museum grounds, including the Rotary Club with hot dogs and hamburgers.

•Visitors also will be able to tour the farm museum's many displays.

Hosts for the event are the Sanborn Business and Professional Association, the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce and the Sanborn Historical Society. Sponsors include the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission and KeyBank.

"Our profits from this help to fund the Christmas at the Farm event. Last year was the first year we did it, and more than 200 kids came and each received an individual gift," said Haskell, noting she expects even more children to attend this December's event.
