'SNL' star Jay Pharoah to perform at Niagara University on Sept. 8

Jay Pharoah, the popular comedian from NBC's "Saturday Night Live," will visit Niagara University on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m.

The show will take place in the Kiernan Center. It is co-sponsored by sponsored by the Niagara University Student Government Association and Campus Programming Board.

Pharoah is known for his many impressions of celebrities such as Andre 3000, Chris Rock, Will Smith, Jay-Z, Denzel Washington, Eddie Murphy and Kanye West, as well as for his recurring character of school principal Daniel Frye. He is best recognized for his impersonation of President Barack Obama, which has been widely watched on YouTube and helped launch his career.

Pharoah developed his comedy skills at a young age in local comedy clubs. He went on to tour in the U.K., the U.S. and Montreal.

Last June, he appeared alongside Greta Gerwig, Bill Pullman and Debra Winger in "Lola Versus," a film by Fox Searchlight Pictures.

Next fall, Pharoah will star alongside Miles Teller, Anna Kendrick, Brandon T. Jackson and Alison Brie in the CBS feature, "Get a Job," and, next January, he'll hit theaters alongside Kevin Hart and Ice Cube in "Ride Along."

Tickets for the general public are $15, and on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets (1-800-745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com). Niagara University students - who have paid their student services fee and possess a current university ID - can purchase a maximum of two tickets per person at $5 each at Niagara's Campus Activities Office in the Gallagher Center.
