In 2012, the NWAA travel soccer program started with humble beginnings, with three teams representing Niagara-Wheatfield. In 2013 the program grew to six travel teams and future growth is expected in 2014 with nine teams representing the area.

This past season in the Buffalo and Western New York Junior Soccer League four teams finished at the top of the tables, with the U10 girls Lady Falcons, U10 boys Wolves, U11 boys Thunderbirds, and U13 Storm all finishing second in 2013. The U10 boys Wolves and U11 Thunderbirds also capped the season by winning the league's Odenbach tournament and the U10 girls Lady Falcons taking second in that same tournament as well as the annual Wilson tournament.

The 2014 season welcomes the addition U16 A division Galaxy and Coach Rob Petricca along with newly expanded U9-10 boys teams and U11 Boys.

The Galaxy will host tryouts Aug. 26-28 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the soccer complex located at Niagara-Wheatfield High School. Those interested in trying out for this team or any other team can register on line at www.nwaasports.net for more details.

The program is currently open to all U9, U10, U11, U12, U14, U15 and U16 boys, as well as U11 and U13 girls interested in playing travel soccer for the Niagara-Wheatfield and surrounding areas.

"Our soccer program is consistently evolving. The continued growth of our quality coaching staff and the dedication of our families has created a recipe for success and I look forward to another amazing season," said Rich Crossley, president of NWAA. "Our goal is and always will be to provide the best opportunity for kids in Wheatfield and surrounding areas to participate both competitively and recreationally in any of our available sport programs."
