"Saturdays on Old Falls Street," a two-week concert series, is coming to Old Falls Street, USA. The show on Saturday, July 20, features the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Then, on Saturday, July 27, the 10,000 Maniacs headline. Each show is free and open to the public and will be held from 5 to 10 p.m.

The BPO performance features the music of John Williams, Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer of "Superman," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial," "Star Wars," "Harry Potter" and many other notable Hollywood movies. In addition, the evening will feature a special live performance by the members of LehrerDance, Buffalo's premier professional dance company.

July 27 will feature national recording artists 10,000 Maniacs, a band originally formed in Jamestown and known for such hits as "Because the Night," "These Are Days" and "What's the Matter Here." The band is currently on tour in support of its album "Music From The Motion Picture," its first new release in 14 years. The evening will also feature three Western New York-based bands: Aircraft, The Albrights and The Tins.

"With all of the momentum and positive feedback we have been receiving on Old Falls Street thus far this summer, we thought it was most appropriate to bring these larger scale concerts to the street," said Global Spectrum's Ryan Coate, general manager of Old Falls Street, USA. "Global Spectrum was able to team up with many local businesses to bring these world-class artists to Downtown Niagara Falls in a venue that both residents and outside guests can enjoy."

Coate expects the concerts to attract more than 2,000 music enthusiasts each week. He said the series has potential to grow in years to come. "Throughout the years, the Buffalo Philharmonic have always drawn a nice crown on Old Falls Street," he said. "There is also a large local following for the 10,000 Maniacs and the opening bands featured before them."

Western New York's Slyboots performers will open each concert. Old Falls Street's food and beverage carts and local favorite Amy's Truck will be on hand to provide food vending throughout the evenings.
