Residents who want to comment on the revised Niagara-Wheatfield School District's revised $62.35 million budget for 2013-14 are invited to a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, in the Adult Learning Center at the high school.

The originally proposed $62.75 million budget was defeated by voters last month. That budget had a 5.91 percent tax levy increase, which was below the state tax cap. In the revised budget, the tax levy increase would drop to 4.5 percent, also below the tax cap.

The vote on the revised budget will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, in the ALC.

A second defeat would mean the school district would have to go to a contingency budget, matching the past year's tax levy. It would result in some difficult decisions, according to Interim Superintendent James Knowles. "We would have to find another $1.1 million in cuts."
