HART Interfaith will mark 30 years of providing a valuable home care service to the Niagara County community when it holds its dinner and recognition affair Wednesday, June 12, at the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston.

Program Manager Sue McBee said the HART Interfaith home assistance referral team traces its beginnings to a small group of compassionate, caring individuals who began in 1982 at First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, at 505 Cayuga St.

"Their objective, which remains today, is to provide affordable home care for the elderly and the infirmed," McBee said.

The nonprofit organization, comprised primarily of volunteers, links those needing assistance in the home with a qualified caregiver who can provide such services.

"They may include anything from home maintenance to skilled nursing. Fees are paid directly to the caregiver. HART does not charge for their services as they rely strictly on donations and grants," McBee said.

She reports the June 12 celebration will recognize those who have helped make HART Interfaith the organization it is today.

"They will be honored at this event for their faithfulness and also their vision," McBee said.

Included are the Grigg Lewiston Foundation, under the funding category; First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston, under commitment; and a number of individuals, both living and posthumously, honored for their service to HART Interfaith and the community over the years. They include: the family of the late Donna Ogg; the family of the late Rev. Paul Moore; the family of the Joanne Breitsman; and Dorothy Butler, Lucy Rainville, Reva Belle Kramer and Mary Lou Schultz.

McBee invites the community to both experience and celebrate with HART Interfaith at the June 12 affair. It gets underway at 5:30 p.m. with a basket raffle preview and cash bar; dinner is at 6:30 and features a carved beef buffet.

In addition to the recognitions, basket and two special raffles will be featured. Prizes include a handmade dollhouse with furniture, donated by Sue's Frame of Mind, Center Street, Lewiston; and a seven-course gourmet dinner for eight guests, including butler and maid service, donated by Joanne Stanton of HUNT Real Estate ERA. This offering includes a private tour of the restored 1824 Van Horn Mansion, located in Burt.

Raffle tickets are now on sale at the HART office; buyers do not need to be present to win.

Tickets to the HART Interfaith celebration are priced at $40 per person or $320 for a table of eight. All proceeds go to benefit HART Interfaith in its effects to provide service throughout Niagara County.

Reservations will be accepted up until Monday, June 3, and can be made by contacting the HART office Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to noon, at 716-754-8313.

"Don't miss this prestigious event," McBee said.
