Amber Holcomb is eliminated

Two finalists revealed Thursday, May 9, on FOX; two-night season finale airs Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16

"American Idol" revealed its final three contestants on Thursday: Candice Glover, Kree Harrison and Angie Miller.

In a surprising twist unveiled last week, votes were combined from the Wednesday night performance shows on April 24 and May 1 in a special "American Idol" two-week showdown. Host Ryan Seacrest revealed that Amber Holcomb, 19, received the least number of votes for those two weeks and was sent home.

Also on Thursday's results show, Grammy winner, world-renowned recording artist and Wednesday night's performance show mentor, Harry Connick Jr., performed his new single, "Every Man Should Know," for the first time. Season seven "American Idol" winner and platinum-selling recording artist David Cook performed his new song, "Laying Me Low." Plus, straight off the soundtrack from the new movie, "The Great Gatsby," seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist will.i.am performed his new song, "Bang Bang," which also is available on his current album, "#willpower."

"American Idol's" finalists will head home for a special homecoming this weekend.

Upon hearing the news, each of the singers revealed what they're most looking forward to:

Candice, 23, of St. Helena Island, S.C., said, "I'm mostly looking forward to seeing firsthand what the support has been like at home, because I hear about it all the time. It would mean the world to make the top three, because that means everything I've worked for is finally falling into place."

Kree, 22, from Woodville, Texas, said, "What I'm looking forward to most is being able to celebrate with my friends and family in my hometown, and being able to hug each of them to thank them for supporting me."

Angie, 19, from Beverly, Mass., said, "Making the top three means everything to me! I can't wait to meet everyone who has supported me and got me this far in the competition."

Tune in next week, Wednesday, May 8 (8 p.m.), so see what happened when Candice, Kree and Angie returned to their hometowns - and find out what songs the judges and Jimmy Iovine have chosen for them to perform.

Each finalist will sing three songs: "Judges' Choice," "Jimmy's Choice" and "Idol's Choice."

The live results show airs the following night, Thursday, May 9 (8 p.m.), when the final two divas remaining on "American Idol" will be revealed. Plus, multi-Grammy Award-winning artist Alicia Keys will take the stage to perform her new single, "Tears Always Win," from her hit album, "Girl on Fire." Also, country artist and season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina will perform her new single, "Barefoot and Buckwild," for the first time ever on the "American Idol" stage.
