One of the college's highest honors to be bestowed at commencement

Hilbert College has selected Vincent O. Hanley, a partner at Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel LLP, to receive the Hilbert College Medal at the institute's commencement exercises May 11 at the Wesleyan Church of Hamburg.

The Hilbert College Medal, one of the college's highest honors, is presented to those "who embody Franciscan values, demonstrate excellence in their profession or career, and excellence in community service." Hanley was nominated for his role as the primary facilitator of the Bishop's Declaration and helping the Hilbert College board of trustees to position the college for ongoing success as a Catholic Franciscan institution.

Furthermore, Hanley is being recognized for leadership as chairperson of the board during the challenging economic conditions in 2008, while the college was embarking on the construction of a new residence hall.

As a partner in Jaeckle Fleischmann & Mugel's business and corporate, real estate, economic and land development, and financial services practice groups, Hanley represents owners, developers, lenders and borrowers in sophisticated real estate transactions involving commercial and industrial properties. In addition to handling acquisitions and sales of real property, Hanley assists clients with all other aspects of commercial real estate development, including the negotiation and drafting of architect agreements and construction contracts, leasing, zoning, subdivision, economic development incentives, and negotiation of easements and restrictive covenants.

Hanley has served as a guest lecturer for the University at Buffalo School of Management, the New York State Bar Association, Lorman Educational Services, and various business groups on a broad range of real estate-related topics, including economic development incentives, easements and licenses, and commercial mortgage foreclosures. He is also a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, and represents a number of area colleges in real estate financing and development projects.

Hanley currently serves on board of directors of the Catholic Health System Continuing Care Foundation and the board of directors of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Society for Buffalo and Western New York. He has been listed by Buffalo Business First in its annual "Who's Who in Law" special report, and is currently listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
