Holy Ghost Lutheran Church "Helping Hands" and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans are sponsoring two events to benefit Judi Jagow, a resident of Bergholz, who has cancer.

A BW's chicken and rib dinner will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, at Holy Ghost Lutheran School, located at 6630 Luther St., Bergholz.

A high tea also will be held, but tickets are sold out for that event. Proceeds from both events will be used to help defray Jagow's rising medical expenses.

Sunday's dinner will feature a quarter chicken, ribs, salt potatoes, baked beans, salad, and homemade desserts. Tickets for the dinner are $11 and will be sold in advance at the church office or by calling 716-731-3030.

Donations are gratefully accepted. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will supplement funds raised including donations. Checks can be made payable to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

Judi Jagow was born and raised in North Tonawanda and moved to Bergholz approximately 38 years ago to raise a family. She was employed for 22 years by Dr. Subash Ramchand who recently died, leaving Judi unemployed. In the summer of 2012, Judi underwent a single mastectomy for breast cancer and, several months later, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and is undergoing chemotherapy and spinal infusions. She is currently a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, although she had been a member at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church for many years.
