Sabres Green Team to plant trees at Martin Luther King Jr. Park

The Buffalo Sabres have announced the Sabres Green Team will join the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy to plant 23 trees at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Buffalo on Saturday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sabres Green Team volunteers will plant the trees, purchased by the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Sabres Foundation, near the rose gardens and the statue of Martin Luther King Jr. The Green Team is looking for 40 volunteers to assist in planting and mulching trees, as well as assisting with garbage cleanup in the park.

Those interested can visit www.Sabres.com to register to volunteer for the event. All volunteers must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Tools will be provided, as will snacks and water for all volunteers. Martin Luther King Jr. Park is located on Best Street and Filmore Avenue in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Sabres are dedicated to the sustainability of the environment in Western New York and Southern Ontario through the "Blue & Gold Make Green Initiative." The organization is committed to creating programming to help Sabres fans reduce their environmental footprint and, at the same time, educate them on conservation issues, teaching fans how to be greener, and directing them to additional resources where they can learn more about environmental issues.
