Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue purchased a total of $540,000 worth of merchandise
In the sixth episode of NBC's reality competition show "Fashion Star" (Friday, April 12), the contestants worked with the buyers to get a better understanding of what they would like to see from them. Some designers thrived from the input, while others chose to go their own path. Four designs were purchased by the retailers for a total of $540,000.
In the episode, the buyers had a chance to sit down with the remaining designers and give them an idea of what they are looking for from each contestant. This was a chance for the designers to prove themselves in areas where they might be lacking. Some contestants were able to take the feedback and hit a home run, while others were less successful in their execution.
Designer Silvia Arguello delighted Saks Fifth Avenue's Terron Schaefer with her chic sleeveless jumper, while designers Hunter Bell, Johana Hernandez and Cassandra Hobbins won raves from Macy's Caprice Willard for their pieces. Designer Amber Perley did not win a bid from the retailers for her skinny jean and peplum jacket and was sent home.
